2020 Mental Health Symposium
February 4-5, 2020

Behavioral health issues affect millions of adolescents and adults in the United States with about 1 in 5 adults, aged 18 or older, having a mental illness. In 2014, of the nearly 44 million adult Americans with a mental illness, only 19.4 million (45%), received mental health services in the past year. This interprofessional education symposium provides up to 14 hours of continuing education for pharmacists, physicians, nurses, psychologists, and social workers. It explores current concepts in the treatment of mental health disorders as well as advances in pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment of mental health and other associated chronic diseases. Session topics include: neurobiology of trauma, CBD, pediatric neurologic co-morbidities, new drug update, technology update, USP <800>, mindfulness and neuroscience, and managing comorbid diseases in adult psychiatry. Special presentations will update Opioid prescribing practices and Naloxone availability in Georgia.

At the conclusion of this symposium, the participant will be able to:

- Apply evidence -based guidelines, through case based learning, to pharmacy practice.
